高耀潔，因揭發90年代中國河南賣血和 “血漿經濟” 導致艾滋病蔓延，被譽為“中國民間防艾滋病第一人”，是“感動中國”年度人物，也是“時代週刊”評出的“亞洲英雄”。2009年為脫離監視進行獨立研究，被迫離鄉，來到美國。抵達美國後林世鈺常年照料她，陪伴她在美國的最後一段時光。
在中國做了10多年記者和作家的林世鈺訪問高耀潔先生逾五十次，寫下多部傳記，其中《煙雨任平生：高耀潔晚年口述》在美國出版，被“亞洲週刊”評為“年度十大好書“，她用專業記者和作家的細緻和悲憫，述說一個女人的平凡和偉大——高耀潔醫生為關愛蒼生所付出的艱辛和崇高的人道精神。
2023年12月 10日，高耀潔醫生在紐約的寓所離世，享年95歲。
季風書園在高耀潔醫生離世一週年之際，請到為她撰寫傳記的旅美作家和記者林世鈺，給我們帶來《“但願人皆健，何妨我獨貧”：悼念高耀潔去世一週年》的分享。
講後，我們安排有高耀潔醫生的紀錄片《道 · 別》（4:30 - 6:00 pm), 來自中國著名紀錄片導演王利波，其作品在國際影展中多次獲獎。
本場講座為中文，電影放映有中英文字幕。
Dr. Gao Yaojie is a remarkable physician who exposed the devastating HIV/AIDS crisis caused by blood plasma trading in 1990s Henan Province, China. Named "Time's Asian Hero" and widely recognized as China's first civilian AIDS prevention advocate, Dr. Gao was forced to leave her homeland in 2009 to pursue independent research, eventually finding refuge in the United States.
Author and journalist Lin Shiyu, who cared for Dr. Gao during her final years in America, will share intimate insights from her extensive interviews and biographical works. Lin's book "The Oral History of Gao Yaojie" was named one of the "Top 10 Books of the Year" by Yazhou Zhoukan. Through Lin's compassionate lens, we'll explore how an ordinary woman's extraordinary dedication to public health made her one of China's most important humanitarian figures.
Following Dr. Gao's passing in New York on December 10, 2023, at age 95, we invite you to join us for this special memorial event. Lin Shiyu will honor Dr. Gao's legacy through a talk titled "May All Others Be Healthy, Though I Remain in Hardship: Remembering Dr. Gao Yaojie One Year Later."
The talk will be followed by a Screening of "Farewell" (4:30 - 6:00 pm), a documentary about Dr. Gao by acclaimed Chinese filmmaker Wang Libo, whose works have received multiple international film festival awards.
The talk will be in Chinese, and the film screening in Chinese and English subtitles.
